McLEAN, LAURA B. - 1922 - 2012 - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Laura McLean, wife of the late Donald T. McLean, of Howard Street, Miramichi. She passed away following a recent illness on Monday morning, January 16, 2012 at the age of 89. Born in West Branch, Kent Co., on February 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Smith and May (MacLeod) Morton. She was a loving mother, wife and homemaker. Active in her church and community she was a Literacy Council educator, retired teacher, dedicated member of St. Andrews United Church, the Princess Street Unit of the U.C.W. and the Prince Charles Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star. Her dedicated and unconditional love and compassion of family, church, and community will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her four sons, Bruce, Dr. Robert (Kellie), John (Patricia), all of Fredericton, and David, of Montreal; two sisters, Edna Palmer, of Moncton and Millie Girvan, of Kincardine; one brother, Charles Morton, of Ford Bank; four grandchildren, Anna, Colin, Haley and Dominick; as well as nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald in 1985; four sisters, Marion Morton, Ruby Phillips, Eva Hicks, Bertha Morton; three brothers, Earl, Carmen and Lloyd Morton.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A public memorial service will be held later in the spring at a location and time to be announced. As an expression of sympathy, a donation to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
