Lucille Mae Gardner, 90, died peacefully Jan. 11, 2012, while under the care of The Hospice of Dayton in Jamestown, OH.
Born on Aug. 4, 1921 in Erie, PA, the first child of Mary (Poger) Lossie and Ralph Lossie.
Lucille attended Academy High School in Erie, PA, where she first met her future husband when she was 14 and he was 16. Lucille graduated with honors from Penn State University and worked for over 30 years as a reading specialist in Erie and St. Peter’s, N.S.
Lucille is survived by her husband Miles Gardner, son Michael of Jamestown OH, son Mark and wife Lynn of Colechester VT, brother Ralph (Tim) and sister-in-law Jeanny Lossie of Erie PA, grandchildren Christopher Blakeman and wife Dawn of Roanoke VA, Twin granddaughters Renee, and husband Chris Ayers, of Pickerington OH, Tara, and husband Earl Rahm, of Reynoldsburg, OH, grandson Bretton Gardner of Burlington VT, step grandsons Michael Blakeman of Huntsville, OH, and Douglas Blakeman (deceased), step granddaughters Katherine Heaney of Yellow Springs, OH and Kelly Heaney of New York City, NY, great-grandchildren Sidney, Elijah, Zachery, Gabriel and Jacquelyn, and five nieces and nephews.
