Bonnie McAloney

McAloney, Bonnie Susan - 52. It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce Bonnie's passing on January 23, 2012 in the V.G. Hospital surrounded by her family and dearest friends after a long and courageous battle with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Bonnie was born on May 13, 1959. She was the youngest daughter of the late Reginald McAloney and Audrey (Hunter, McAloney) Gillis. Bonnie is survived by her cherished daughter, Stacey McAloney, loving sisters, Barb "Sissy" (Mullen, Evans) McAloney, both of Halifax, Vicky (Mike) Shipley, Oxford; brother, Terry, Ont.; niece, Shannon Carter; nephew, Kyle Shipley; great niece, Grace Evans. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Linda Baker (Bob) and brother, Danny McAloney. Bonnie was a very active member of Narcotics Anonymous and did a lot to help those trying to turn their lives around as she did almost 13 yrs ago. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Very special thanks to Dr. Graeme Rocker and the Inspired Team for all your care and kindness shown to Bonnie and her family. Special thanks to Dr. T. and to the staff of the Halifax Infirmary and V.G. Hospitals who made Bonnie's last year of illness more comfortable for her and the family. Many thanks to all the paramedics who transported Bonnie to the Emergency Dept., of the Halifax Infirmary numerous times over the year. Visitation will be held from 12p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday January 26 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. James Barry officiating.
