Wesley "Skinny" Cook

COOK, WESLEY "SKINNY" ARNOLD - At the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, NB on January 24, 2012, Mr. Wesley “Skinny” Arnold Cook, husband of the late Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” (Palk) Cook formerly of Pennfield, NB. Born at Leonardville, Deer Island, NB on January 30, 1924 he was a son of the late George and Madeline (Johnson) Cook. A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by five children; Brian (Nancy) Palk of Saint John, NB, Wayne (Irene) Cook of St. Stephen, NB, Rose Richard (Art Maillet) of Pennfield NB, Sheila Cleghorn (Keith Hunter) of St. Stephen, NB and James (Mary) Cook of Utopia, NB, six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one brother, Joseph (Carol) Cook of Beaver Harbour, NB, two sisters; Thelma (Joe) Chevarie of Saint John, NB and Beverly (Paul) Justason of Pennfield, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his loving wife, Betty, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Prior to his retirement Skinny served overseas for the Canadian Army with the North Shore Regiment as an Infantry Soldier and later to Motor Transport Corps. Following the war, he served at Camp Utopia as a Dispensary Clerk. He later worked for Connors Bros for several years as a Foreman. Skinny was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing and was a die hard Blue Jay fan. His family and friends will fondly remember Skinny’s recitation of poetry, especially at Christmas and he can still be heard reciting such classics as “The Cremation of Sam McGee”. His smile and humor will always be loved and remembered by all who knew him.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Wednesday from 5 to 9 pm. The service will be held from the Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield, NB on Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Keith Osborne officiating. The interment will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Passamaquoddy Lodge or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
