Passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Jan. 20, 2012, Mr. Gordon James Coates of Eddies Cove East, NL, in his 87th year. Mr. Coates leaves to mourn his daughters Gloria (Doug), Juanita (Stewart), Seamon (Jim), and Irene (Paul deceased); sons Wilga (Gladys), and Victor (Vivian); grandchildren Bob, Mervin, Boris, Tony, Troy, Trina, Christina, Andrew, Christal, Carla, Jennifer, Kevin, Lisa, Sabrina, Keith and (Tonya predeceased); eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters Blanche (Reuben) and Margaret; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Ruth Coates. Visitation was held at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove, from where the funeral service took place at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23 with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. Burial followed the service in the Anglican Cemetery in Eddies Cove East. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
