Michael Sholdra, 76, of Winnipeg, MB passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital on November 29, 2009, after a brief illness.
Michael was born in Montreal to Ivan and Sophia (Yurkewych) Sholdra, and was raised in Sydney, Cape Breton, NS.
He is survived by his sister, Anne (Bruce) Willis, New Glasgow, NS; nephew, Michael Willis, and nieces, Michelle (Willis) Stanley, Sandra Somers and Denise Somers; three great-nephews; and close friend, Mary (Landemeyer) Woo.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Saraphyna ‘Sara’ Somers in 2006.
Michael worked at the steel plant in Sydney from 1951 to 1960, and was a retired employee of Canada Post in Vancouver and Winnipeg.
He had a great sense of humour and had a wide circle of friends in Sydney and Winnipeg. Mike resided since June of this year at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Mike maintained close ties with his family, and he will be dearly missed by his family.
By Mike’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
