It has been one month today since we laid to rest our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and most of all, best friend, Edwin A. "Western Dan" MacDonald. To all of those who spent time with us at the funeral home and the reception following the funeral, we sincerely thank you for sharing the stories of Edwin, both the familiar family "legends" and new stories we have never known. Your thoughts and prayers, cards of sympathy and calls of hope and encouragement, the generous donations to the Palliative Care Unit and Newsome United Church, and gifts of food were all greatly appreciated by our family. We are especially thankful for the care, concern, and professionalism of the En Cala Palliative Care Unit, where Edwin spent his final week in loving comfort, the Cape Breton Cancer Care Unit, the Palliative Care Outpatient Unit, VON, and McGillvray's Funeral Home, where Edwin began his final journey to his eternal rest at the side of his loving wife.
