Passed away on February 6, 2012, James Richard Chalker Q.C. Predeceased by his wife Barbara in February 2008. Leaving to mourn his daughter, Susan (Dennis Browne); sons: John (Beverley Douglas) and Michael (Kathie Billard); and grandchildren: Maria and Andrea Chalker, and Paul, Michael, David and Maria Browne. Also leaving to mourn special cousins Grant Chalker (Jan), Jack Hiscock (Libby), Jim Hiscock and Ted Hiscock; as well as sisters-in-law: Mary Tucker, Katherine Devine, Mercedes McCarthy, Teresita Williams, Isabelle Goodridge and Betty Galway. Jim was senior partner in the St. John’s law firm Chalker, Green and Rowe and former Chair of the Board of Newfoundland Hydro. He was also recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's on Wednesday, February 8 from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service from St. Thomas Anglican Church, Military Road on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined.
