Wheeler, William 'Bill' Fawcett
The family of William 'Bill' Fawcett Wheeler are saddened to announce his unexpected passing on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at the age of 93.
Born in Sackville, Bill was a son of the late J.W and Minnie (Snowdon) Wheeler.
During the war, Bill worked at Canadian Car & Foundry, Aircraft Plant, Amherst. He later worked at Enterprise Foundry and Enamel & Heating Ltd, Sackville. He continued to work for Enheat Ltd., Amherst, until his retirement in 1983.
A sports fan, Bill had actively participated in playing baseball and hockey in his younger years, and was well known for his love of coaching local baseball. He would often spend time woodworking in his shop and enjoyed spending time at his cottage as well as watching sports on TV.
Bill will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Beryl (nee Faulkner); eight children, Duane (Margaret) Wheeler, Kitchener, ON, Sally Smith, Sackville, Cheryl (Richard) Anderson, Shanghai, China, Donna Johnson, Sackville, Ron (Sandra) Wheeler, Dartmouth, Mary Jo (Franko) Bua, Port Coquitlam, BC, Patricia Desjardins, Sackville, Dan Wheeler (Dale Betts), St. Catherines, ON; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; a brother, Laurier, Sackville; three brothers in law, two sisters in law, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.
Bill's remains have been cremated under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300), from where a time of visitation and memorial will be held at a later date.
Donations in Bill's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Red Cross (Sackville) or a charity of choice.
