Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Chancellor Park, Myrtle Kennedy (nee Powers), aged 95 years, in the presence of her loving niece and nephew-in-law Judy and Lloyd Melendy. Predeceased by her first husband James Oates and second husband Dr. George Kennedy; son J. Myers Oates; grandson James Oates; three brothers: Bill Powers (Annie), Jim Powers (Vivian) and Fraize Powers (Jane); four sisters: Dorothy Skinner, Mae Marshall (Harold), Marie Bennett, and Florence Baggs (Jack); sister-in-law Magretta Powers. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories granddaughter Lisa Green (Bernie) of Australia; four great-grandchildren: Tonia, Nikita, Mitchell and Natasha; brother Chester Powers; sister-in-law Geraldine Goobie of Halifax; brother-in-law Ross Bennett; devoted niece and nephew-in-law: Judy and Lloyd Melendy; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends: Jim and Doris Russell. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; then on Friday from 12 noon-2 p.m. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
