Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on February 6th, 2012 following a lengthy illness, John Patrick Martin, age 57 years. Predeceased by his parents Edward (Ned) and Sheila Martin in 1997. Left to mourn his sad loss is his loving wife Christina Donovan; his daughter Judy (Vitaly Borodinski); grandchildren: Sean and Jake; special cousins: Betty Phelan and Mary Withycombe; mother-in-law Jean Donovan and all of the Donovan family; Judy’s mother Debbie O’Leary; special friends: Doug O’Leary and Gary Corbett, as well a large circle of relatives and friends. John worked 35 years with Canada Post and had just retired two years ago. He filled his time with photography, which he loved. Sports was another passion of John’s; throughout the years he was a longtime volunteer with softball and hockey from which many friendships were formed. Cremation has taken place. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Thursday, February 9th, from 10 a.m. – 12 noon, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Service on Friday, February 10th, at 1:00 p.m. from Caul’s Chapel. Inurnment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Newfoundland & Labrador Lung Association or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
