David Gervaise Quirk, 74, of Howie Centre, formerly of Campbells Road, Balls Creek, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Alexander and Florence (Hunt) Quirk.
Before retirement, David was employed as a carpenter with Sydney Steel.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Bragg); children, Gower (Theresa), AB, Pamela (Fred) Hillier, NS, Heather (John) Baumle, AB, David (Karen), NS, Derrick (Darlene), BC, Yvette (Gordon) Field, AB, Gervaise (Sherry), BC, Sheldon (Lorna), BC, Sonya Quirk (Lawrence), AB, Tanya (Tim) Noel, ON, Brent (Tammy), AB, Nelson (Cindy), ON and Stephanie (Orin), NS; sister, Madeline Rouleau, ON; brother, Michael, NS; 31 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
David was predeceased by his son, Alexander, sisters, Josephine Bond, Florence MacGuire, Evelyn Robinson, Margaret Perry, Gladys Campbell, Susan Keeping and Agnes Hall and brothers, Alexander, William and George.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Monday, 2 p.m. with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
