Lucina "Lou" Clements
CLEMENTS, LUCINA "LOU" L. - 1928 - 2012 - Lucina “Lou” L. Clements, 84, of Riverview, with her loving family at her side, passed away at The Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Born in West Point, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Emmaline (Trainor) Stewart. Lou was a Graduate (1951) of the Metropolitan Demonstration School of Nursing in Windsor, Ontario. Before her marriage Lou worked in hospitals across Canada, including Sunnybrook (Toronto) and The Moncton Hospital. Lou loved flowers and enjoyed gardening years before it became so popular, sharing her plants with everyone who asked - they bloom all over town, as well as in other provinces. She enjoyed many summers in the family cottage in West Point, PEI. She also enjoyed travel, especially her three pilgrimages to Medugorje and her visit to the Holy Land. She and Jim enjoyed square dancing for many years; they belonged to Hoban's Heroes Square Dance Club. Lou was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish for 27 years and then a member of St. Bernard's Parish. Lou was active in the Charismatic Renewal from its beginnings in the Moncton area in the 1970's. She was a Lay Associate of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament. Through her efforts, Madonna House established a house of prayer in Riverview. Lou was a member of the Planning Committee for Proclamation, and a long-time participant in City-Wide Prayer. Lou was instrumental in calling the first meeting to consider the plight of the Vietnamese Boat People in the 80's, which resulted in the formation of various church groups, sponsoring 44 families. Lou will be sadly missed by her husband of 55 years, Jim Clements of Riverview; her loving children, Catherine of Moncton, Joe (Anna-Mae) of Sarnia, ON and Paul of Toronto, ON; precious grandchildren John and Laura of Sarnia. Also, by her sister-in-law, Jean Stewart; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a son, John Stewart (Stewartie) in 1966. Also, by her six brothers and sisters, Harry, St. Claire (Clarissa), Tom, Margaret (Clifford) Ellis, Gertrude, Bertha (Frank) Hanson.
