TRACEY, HELEN FRANCIS - It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Helen Tracey who passed away at Kingsway Care Center on Thursday, February 9th, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born 1927 in Saint John to the late Everett Reginald and Gladys Margaret (Beers) Byers. Helen worked for the City of Saint John at City Hall in the Building and Water Billing Departments retiring in 1992. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Helen was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Founding Members and President of the Secretary’s Association and she supported and enjoyed skating in the Skate to Care for many years with the team at city hall. She enjoyed horseback riding, dancing, music especially sing songs with Aulden on guitar; genealogy research, time at the camp with family and friends and traveling to Florida with Aulden in the winter. Helen is survived by her sons Tom (Linda) of Hull, PQ and Jim of Ottawa, ON; daughters Carol Lynn Hussey (Blair) of Saint John, Terri Lee Milligan of Trenton, ON, Janice Jones (Stephen) of Saint John and Sylvia Phillips of Leduc, AB; sister Donna Marie Martin of Maulden, MASS; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Don Tracey (Hilma) of Damascus, Stan Martin of Red Deer, AB and Harry Stoy of Fort Langley, BC; nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Aulden Leo Tracey, sisters Jeanne Bishop, Sharon Anne Stoy and Constance Byers in infancy; brothers-in-law Bish, Clement and Cloran.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation to be held on Sunday, February 12th from 2 to 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 4347 Loch Lomond Road, on Monday, February 13th at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in Helen’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Kingsway Center, St. Joseph’s Hope Center or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
