(September 24, 1925 – February 7, 2012): Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, February 7, 2012, at the age of 86. Fred served in WWII under the Canadian Flag, was a veteran, worked with the government for many years and also taught at the University before his retirement. Predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth, and sons Wayne and Fred. Left to celebrate his life is his daughter Gail Mercer (Kevin); grandchildren: Colin, Daniel, Dennis, Duncan, Jason, Luke, Mark, and Megan; as well as great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from Caul’s Chapel with Interment to follow at the Field of Honor, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation.
