McLEAN, BARBARA RITA - Barbara Rita McLean of Blacks Harbour, NB, died peacefully on February 11, 2012 at Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John, NB. Born Barbara Rita Justason on November 13th, 1924, at Blacks Harbour, NB, she was the youngest daughter of the late Warren and Kathleen (Bradford) Justason. A beloved mother, she is survived by her grateful and loving family, her daughter, Margie (David) Attis of Grand Barachois, NB, her sons, Neil (Lynda) McLean of Pennfield, NB, and Dougall (Wanda) McLean also of Pennfield, NB. She was a very special grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Nathan and Sarah McLean, Yona (Nick) Day, Samara (Dany) Mizrab, Lelya (Robert) Cuel, Aviva Attis and Barbara (Jeremy) Filip. Barb is also survived by her sisters, Freda Wright of St. Andrews, NB, and Gladys Skerrett of Burlington, ON, and by her brother, Burton Justason of Truro, NS. Barbara was sadly predeceased by her beloved grandson, Jesse McLean. Prior to her retirement, Barb had a forty year career as an elementary school teacher in Charlotte County where she touched countless young lives. She loved to read, follow and critique politics and encouraged her family to follow her lead. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who learned from her.
At Barb’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family interment will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Children’s Wish Foundation or to the Charlotte County SPCA would be greatly appreciated by the family.
