McBurnie, Ruth M. - 89, of Five Islands passed away quietly on February 9, 2012 in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born in Lower Five Islands, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Freda (Eagles) Lewis. Ruth was a member of Peniel United Church, Five Islands. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard; sister, Iva and brothers, Derald and Austin. She is survived by a sister, Jean (Alex) Bedford, Truro; brothers, Addison (Eileen), Moncton, Harold (Lorna), Glenholme; sister-in-laws, Beulah Davis, Helen Yorke, Marilyn McBurnie and Majorie Lewis all of Five Islands; many nieces and nephews. To the Nurses and Homecare staff of VON, Dr. Ewing and the staff of Palliative Care at Colchester Regional Hospital, thank you for your support and kindness. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 pm in the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro.
