Al is survived by his wife Yolande of 55 years, his six children daughters; Edna (Dave) Evans, Joanne (Wayne) Kushner, Denise Douville (Garth), sons; Paul Douville, George (Jeannine) Douville, Allan (Jackie) Douville and by 17 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. His 2 brothers Wilfrid Douville, Tony (Betty) Douville. Al was predeceased by 4 sisters Rosalie, Bertha and twins that passed away at birth and 9 brothers Joseph, Julien, Lucien, Ernest, Philippe, Ernest, Noel, Paul and John. Al was born on the farm in Meyronne on July 25, 1930. He attended school at Glenarchy School and then Meyronne School. He married Yolande Bedard on August 28, 1956 in Ponteix. Al was a journeyman carpenter. He worked with his brother Wilfrid building houses, churches and hotels. To aid with their construction Al bought his own backhoe. However, it was always Al's dream to own his own business so he became as "Esso" agent and built a service station just south of Ponteix along highway 13. He still continued to work in the construction field and soon he was using his backhoe more and more. Being a 'hands-on kind of guy' he had a special skill with that backhoe, he could make it do anything. He soon became the man in the southwest to call if you needed a backhoe. In the later part of his work career besides his backhoe business, he was employed by the town of Ponteix taking care of the water infrastructure. Al was President of Wildlife Federation for years. He enjoyed playing hockey with the Beanos old timers' hockey club. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ponteix Lions Club. Al was an avid fisherman and Governor Dam was a favorite spot. He liked to play cards whether it was a game of bid wist with friends or a game of solitary at the dining room table. Al and Yolande enjoyed taking their motor home often camping with family. Al was a social person and enjoyed his regular visits to the coffee shop. He took pride in his family and always looked forward to the large 'get togethers' with his family; this made him so happy to have them all near. We would like to thank the Swift Current Care Center for the excellent care and support given to Dad during his stay with them. Memorial donations may be made in Alphonse's name to the Alzheimer Society and Swift Current Care Center Auxiliary. Arrangements were entrusted to Lemieux Funeral Home, Ponteix, SK.
