KENNEDY, JOAN ALDA (nee LELACHEUR) - It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joan Kennedy, on February 10, 2012, in Ottawa. Joan was born in Saint John, NB on December 31st, 1920, to Louis and Gladys LeLacheur, and lived a good portion of her early life in that city and later with her husband Thomas (deceased) and family. Joan was a teacher most of her adult life, had graduated from Normal School in Fredericton, and later completed her BA at UNB. She was an enthusiastic member of various community groups, including Saint Columba Presbyterian Church, the I.O.D.E and tai chi. She is survived by her children, Geoffrey, Peter Grant and Anna, and had another son, Leslie, who predeceased her. Her sister, Zoe, lives in Calgary, Alberta and her brother, Maurice, predeceased her. She has seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A date for a Memorial Service in Saint John has not yet been set, but anyone wishing to make a donation to a charity as an acknowledgment is encouraged to do so. Notification of the Memorial Service will be made at a later date and inquiries can be sent to kanna@shaw.ca or ivan.marion@hotmail.com
