Colonel Dr. Earl Robert Robinson, of The Salvation Army, was Promoted to Glory on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from Maple Ridge, BC. Earl was born on December 24, 1936 to Ernest and Irene Robinson in Moose Jaw, SK. Earl attended Prince Arthur and William Grayson Public Schools and Central Collegiate High School in Moose Jaw, SK. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan, Bachelor of Divinity from Pine Hill Divinity Hall in Halifax, NS, Master of Arts from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB, Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., Honorary Doctor of Divinity from William and Catherine Booth College, Winnipeg, MB, President Emeritus from the William and Catherine Booth University College. Earl was commissioned an officer of The Salvation Army in 1960 and served congregations in Penticton, Lethbridge and Vancouver before commencing many years service in education and administration. Earl, with his wife Benita, were co-founders of The Salvation Army Catherine Booth Bible College which now bears the name of William and Catherine Booth University College. In education he served on The Salvation Army Toronto Training College, wrote and lectured extensively, was the Chairman of The Salvation Army's Doctrine Council and represented the General of The Salvation Army as the Secretary for International External Relations at the United Nations in New York and Geneva, the World Council of Churches in Geneva, and World Christian Communion gatherings. Earl was husband to Benita, father to Manda (D'Arcy) Poole and Sean (Gail) Robinson and grandad to Ethan Poole. He was loved and respected by his sister Bev (Dennis) Hotz and their children and his brother Barry (Teresa) Robinson. He was known throughout the world for his work in education and ecumenism. His attention to human worth and dignity was evident in his writings, lectures and personal friendships.
