ABIGAIL RUTH "ABBY" FURBERG (nee Jaynes)
Our dearest Abby passed away peacefully at 93 years of age under the loving care of her closest friends and staff at the Christenson Village (Good Samaritan) in Gibsons.
Abby was born in Edmonton. Alberta, living there and for a period of time in Red Deer, Alberta. She moved to Vancouver in the early 1940s. After first pursuing careers in piano and then hairdressing, she married Albert Stanley Furberg in 1942. Their only child Jon was born in 1944, and they then moved to Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island, returning to live in West Vancouver five years later. Eventually Stan and Abby settled in Sechelt in the late 1980s.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Stan in 1996 and her son Jon in 1992, Abby collected many new families about her. She was famous for her passionate love and advocacy for animals. Among her many friends and relatives who will dearly miss her are: Cornelia, Laurie, Don, Larry, Norah, Chris, Hannah, Carmen, Faye, Joanne, Astrid, Irene, Clint, Helga, Jeanette, Corry, Emil, Norma, Stacey, Aileene, Mariya, Alana, Kelsie, Sarah, Ray, Bruce, Mikiko, Pat, Joka, Pianka, Joan, David, Odie, Mary Beth, Yvonne, Caroline, Orlando, Reynold, Roberta, Maureen, Shirley, Bob … There are too many to list or remember, you know who you are.
Our sincere thanks to the staff at the Good Samaritan for their loving care of Abby on her final journey.
