Roy Winters
WINTERS, ROY H. - 87, of Parrsboro passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Claude and Vera (Bullerwell) Winters. Roy served with the merchant marine during World War II. Following the war, he was a marine engineer for Atlantic Towing for many years, retiring in 1986. Roy enjoyed animals, fiddle music and long walks on the beach. As well, he enjoyed a good game of darts and checkers. He is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Phinney; his children, Sandra Hiltz (Doug), Parrsboro; Maria Winters, Parrsboro; Clovia Atkinson (John), Parrsboro; Virginia Pettigrew, Calgary; Michael (Heather), Parrsboro; Bernie (Sherry), Morell, PEI; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Alice and Arnelia; brothers, Jack, George and Claude. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday [February 16, 2012] and 1-2 p.m. Friday [February 17, 2012] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Keith Selwyn-Smith, DLM and Rev.
