James “Hilary” MacDonald

James “Hilary” MacDonald, 84, of the Marsh Road, Thorburn, passed away February 14, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late James Hilary and Mary (MacArthur) MacDonald.
Hilary was a resident of Thorburn all of his life. He was a past employee of the Department of Transportation where he was employed for some 45 years. He was a long time member of the Abercrombie Golf Club, curled in his earlier years, enjoyed photography, fishing, music, having played the trumpet in various Dixie land and big bands and spending time with his grandchildren.
Hilary is survived by sons, Don (Judy), Winnipeg; Stephen (Margaret Ann), MacLellan’s Brook; a daughter Cheryl MacDonald, Westville; his grandchildren: Mandy, Scott, Haley, Erin, Jill and Bethny, great-grandchildren Jacob and Talia.
He was predeceased by a sister in infancy.
His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visiting from 7-9 p.m. Thursday from where a private funeral liturgy will be held Friday with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. Burial to take place in St. Ann’s Parish Cemetery, Thorburn.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Hilary may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
