L. O. Verne Bleakney

BLEAKNEY, L.O. VERNE - Mr. Verne Bleakney of North Head Grand Manan Island passed away unexpectedly at North Head on Sunday February 12, 2012. Verne was born in Moncton and later in his life moved to Grand Manan Island. He was known to many Islanders as a hard worker that was not afraid to roll up his sleeves and take on the task at hand. He will be remembered most for mowing lawns in the summer and be seen pushing his mower through North Head to another customer’s home with a smile often singing a song. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mrs. Hazel Bleakney. He is also survived by one sister Joanne Bleakney of Moncton, one brother Gregory Bleakney of Moncton. Also all of Hazel’s children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and customers he served. He was predeceased by one brother Morley.
Visiting for Verne will be Friday at the North Head Baptist Church from 2 to 4 pm. The funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Ed Shaw officiating, interment will follow at the North Head Community Cemetery. Following the service there will be a reception in the fellowship hall of the church and all are welcome and invited to attend.
