Edmund Arthur (“Bud”) Ellingson was born May 29, 1925 in Shaunavon, Sask. As a young man, he moved to BC where he met and married Barbara Beatty in Vancouver in June 1953. In 1960, he moved his family to Squamish. Bud served as chairman of the Mamquam Sewer District and as a member of the interim Town Council during the incorporation of Squamish. He was a Charter member of the Squamish Valley Golf Club, and an active member of the Legion and BPO Elks. After over 25 years in the logging industry, Bud and Barbara formed Ellingson Trucking, with several trucks involved in road building. Winter vacations were spent in Hawaii and Mexico and, after retirement, in Desert Hot Springs, CA. More recently they enjoyed international travel. In 2010, they relocated to Surrey, BC to be closer to their daughters.
Bud passed away on January 28, 2012 in White Rock, BC. He was predeceased by his son Brian, and his sisters Luella and Verna. He is survived by his wife Barbara and daughters Joan (Jim) Cosford, Joyce (John) Slater, Beverly (Fred Pletcher) Ellingson, grandchildren Diana, Amber, Darien, Ciara and Devon, great-granddaughter Celina, and his sisters Alice and Ruby.
