Barbara Jane Jebson - 83, of Kentville, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Amherst on February 23, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle (Atkinson) Purdy. Barbara was a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, where she met the love of her life, Clifford Edwin Jebson (1922-2004). They were married on December 23, 1950 and moved to Kentville, where they raised four daughters. Mom was a people person; her smile would light up the room. She was actively involved with family and community, including Girl Guides of Canada and her own gift shop, Orchard Crafts. Barbara was a member of the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, where she had been active with the choir for a number of years. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of The Friday Lunch Club and the Poker and Tacky Clubs. She was an active resident of Kings Riverside Court, Kentville. Idyllic summers were spent with family and friends at Tidnish, Amherst Shore and Aylesford Lake. Barbara Jane is survived by her daughters, Lynn Risenhoover (Brian Buntain), Washington State; Cathy (Chris) Seamone, Halifax; Barbie Jebson, Aylesford Lake; Gail (Brian) Robinson, Montreal; brother, Robert (Edith Anne) Purdy, Amherst; grandchildren, Tera, Kelly and Jennifer Reisenhoover, Washington State; Mark, Brent and Scott Seamone, Halifax; Chris, Megan (Chris Mares) and Lisa Robinson, Montreal. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Clifford Jebson; sister, Margaret MacLeod; brother, Walter Purdy. Special thanks to Hilda, Barbara and Glenys for their never-ending support. Special thanks also to the staff and friends of Kings Riverside Court, Doogie’s Taxi (David) and the nursing care at Medical B of the Valley Regional Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 2-5 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A celebration of her life and reception was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Randy Crozsman officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
