POTHIER, Joseph Elie - It is with great sadness we the family of the late Captain Joseph Elie Pothier announce his passing on February 11, 2012 at the age of 82 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Wedgeport on July 10, 1929 to the late Dennis and Adeline (LeBlanc) Pothier. He was a fisherman for some time and also employed by M.V. Prince of Fundy for 6 years. He then went on to be a mate on various Government Tugs. He was also a Jack of all trades, and his grandchildren called him Papa. His passion in life after retirement was his wife, grandchildren and his blueberry farm. He is leaving to mourn his wife of 56 years, Annette (Boudreau) Pothier and four children, Kevin, Quebec; Hugh (Lucille), Wedgeport; Cyrille (Lisa), Kentville; Ida (Ricky) Romain, Mavilette; he was Papa to 5 granddaughters, Nichole, Eliane, Michelle, Emily and Kaitlyn; 3 grandsons, Gabriel, Joel and Andy; sisters, Lorraine Boudreau, Massachusetts; Rosemarie Pineo, Prince Edward Island. He was predeceased by brothers, Mark, Ruben, Alvin and Charles; sisters, Laura, Madeline and Elizabeth; half sister, Doris. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth with visitation from 2-4 and again from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, February 13 in Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport, with prayers at 8 p.m. A funeral Mass was held at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport on Tuesday, February 14 at 2 p.m. Father Wieslaw Papuga, officiated. Internment was held in the parish cemetery. Donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to Saint Michael’s Cemetery Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
