It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our brother and uncle Powley Chester Wambolt, on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, Dec. 4, 1938, he was the son of the late George and Mae (Beach) Wambolt.
He was employed at Eastern Bakeries until its closure and then Braemore Home as a PCW until his retirement in 1995.
He is survived by his sisters, Grace Saunders, Janet Doran, and Thelma Nicholson, all of Sydney, Marilyn ‘Bucky’ Ryan, New Waterford, and Velzora ‘Tiny’ (Ernest) Campbell, New Brunswick; and one brother, Gordon (Monica), Mull River. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Annabelle Wambolt.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Erna Nicholson and Ada MacArthur, and by his brothers, Ace, Frank, George, Ernest, Earl and Melvin.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Chick will be solely missed by his best friend Ambrose ‘Nit’ Lukeman who spent many hours with him during his illness.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place in the chapel on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Allan MacLellan officiating. Burial will take place at Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date.
