It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Henry David ‘Mickey’ Jones on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Bras d’Or, he was the son of the late George and Annie (Young) Jones.
David was a member of St. Joseph parish, Bras d’Or. He was employed at Canada Post until his retirement. David loved to travel and did so extensively with Helen, his wife of 49 years by his side.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Wendy (Jason) Daley and Jacqueline (Brent) Black, both of Ontario; his grandchildren, Amanda, David and Jessie; his great-grandchildren, Emily Ann and Jonathan Alexander. Also surviving are his brother, Joe (Iris), Bras d’Or; his sisters, Thelma (Bert) Adams, Ontario, and Lorraine Aylward, Ontario.
Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his wife Helen in 2010, his sisters, Rachel Gorton and Mary Nugent and his brothers, Art, Wilfred and Garfield.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place today (Monday) at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery at a later date.
