ST. CYR: Robert Joseph St. Cyr, age 88, of Ponteix, Sk. passed away February 23, 2012 at the Foyer St Joseph Nursing Home, Ponteix Sk. A prayer service was held Sunday, February 26, at 7:30 P.M. from the Notre Dame d’Auvergne Roman Catholic Church, Ponteix, SK. The Funeral Mass was held Monday, February 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from Notre Dame d’Auvergne Roman Catholic Church with Father Anenmom Amedee officiating. The Organist for the Prayer service and Mass was Claudette Begin. The ushers were Ron St. Cyr and Irene Severson. The Cross Bearer was Julien Douville. The pallbearers were Jamey Stringer, Ryan St. Cyr, Jody Stringer, Lisa Perkins, Cindy Stuart and Stacy Perkins. The interment service took place at Notre Dame Parish Cemetery. Robert was born in Ponteix on July 3, 1923. He attended school at the McPhail School in Ponteix. Robert married Anna Donauer on April 23, 1946 in Meyronne, Sk. Robert worked for his dad at the Hotel in Meyronne until 1948 then he began working for the C.P.R. In 1963, the family moved to the farm near Ponteix and then moved into Ponteix in 1965 where Robert was employed at Carignan’s Garage. In 1967 Robert had a heart attack and had open-heart surgery in 1970. Following this he retired and he and Anna looked after a foster home for the elderly, for the next eight years. In earlier years, Robert liked to play pool and go fishing. He also enjoyed his weekly cribbage outing, but he liked to play solitaire and wore out many decks of cards. He enjoyed card games of all kinds. He really enjoyed sharpening knife and scissors, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t sharpen for anyone at anytime. Robert was a wonderful father and very kind to everyone he met or knew. He will be dearly missed and loved forever. Robert is survived by his wife Anna and he leaves to cherish his memory his son Raymond (Gisele) St. Cyr, and their children Cindy (Chris) Stuart and their children Raelyn and Josh; Lisa (Stacy) Perkins and their children Teagan, Jordon and Kaelon; Ryan (Steph) St. Cyr and their children Summer and Grayson; his daughter Janet Stringer and her children Jamey (Nora) and their children Alexis, Cain and Jody (Roland); his sisters, Sister Alma St Cyr and Lena Liboiron; brothers Gerry Laurent and Harvey and all their families; sister-in-law Helen and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his dad Lucien, mother Bertha; five brothers and four sisters; son-in-law Joe; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and other family members.
