Bonita "Bonny" Short
SHORT, BONITA "BONNY" - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB, March 2, 2012, surrounded by family and close friends, Bonita (Bonny) Mary Short. Wife of Allan R. Short of St. Stephen, NB and daughter of the late John Franklin and Nora Jane (McKinney) Inch. Survived by her husband, Allan, two daughters, Barbara Jane Short (Aaron) of Saint John, NB, Mary-Anne Greenlaw (Troy) of Moores Mills, NB, one son, Robert Allan Short (Sarah) of Sussex, NB, two grandchildren, Rowan and Rhys Short, one sister, Barbara Reay (Leroy) of Waite, Me., several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents and her brother Jim Inch. Bonny grew up in Oak Point and attended school in Browns Flat, NB. She was an avid broom-ball player and enjoyed activities outdoors. She went to the New Brunswick Teachers College and then the University of New Brunswick, earning an undergraduate degree in Education. She taught in Lancaster, Grand Bay and Milltown before leaving her profession to raise a family. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. She touched many lives through her dedication to the Union Street Atlantic Baptist Church. For many years she was involved in the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs, as well as the Women’s Missionary Society. Bonny had a keen interest in music and spent her time on a variety of activities including quilting, knitting and scrapbooking. She loved to travel, read and always enjoyed watching hockey. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at the Union Street Atlantic Baptist Church, Union Street, St. Stephen, NB on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 2 PM. Visiting hours will be held at The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB on Monday, March 5, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, NB at a later date.
