ALEXANDER VICTOR LUCYSHYN
October 22, 1944 – February 29, 2012

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our father, Alex Lucyshyn on Thursday, February 29, 2012. Alex passed away at the Meadow Lake Hospital with friends and family by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Saskatoon, he was the youngest son of Peter and Alexandria Lucyshyn and grew up on the family homestead near Prud'homme, SK. Alex dedicated his working career to the service to others both in the hotel and construction industries in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Cold Lake, and Meadow Lake. After retiring in 2010, Alex continued to work as a general contractor in and around the Meadow Lake area keeping himself busy. He enjoyed performing odd jobs for others, helping out friends and family, holding garage sales and his annual fishing trips. Alex also had a passion for antiques and classic cars. Alex is survived by his three children, Clint Lucyshyn of Grande Prairie, Gerard (Sheila) Lucyshyn of Langdon and Chantelle Law of Kitchener; his five grandchildren: Brienna and Danika Lucyshyn, Michael and Adam Lucyshyn, and Jordan Law; his two sisters: Frances Zook of Saskatoon, Theresa (Al) Martineau of Edmonton; his four sisters-in-law, Margaret (Alex) Komarnicki, Mary Lucyshyn, Lauretta Lucyshyn, Irene Hrynuik, all of Saskatoon, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Alex was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Alexandria Lucyshyn, and his brothers, Adolph, Jack, Nick, John, Carl and brother-in-law Bill Zook. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church (504, 3rd Avenue E) in Meadow Lake, SK. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Paul DeGuzman and a Prayer Service will be held on Friday, March 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel (311, 3rd Street West) in Saskatoon, SK. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Parish (211 Avenue O South) in Saskatoon, SK with celebrant Rev. Fr. Steve Morrisey, CSsR. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alex Lucyshyn to Meadow Lake Hospital (Meadow Lake) or St. Paul’s Hospital (Saskatoon).
