PIPKE - Willi, age 87, passed away peacefully at the Herbert & District Integrated Health Care Facility on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Dad was born in Poland on November 25, 1924. He had a hard childhood, with his mother passing away when he was two years old. At the age of 13, he was taken into the German Army and thankfully survived. After the war he made his way to Germany where he worked in the forest and for a large farmer. It was there that he met and married mom, Adeline Stuzbecher, on April 11, 1947. They started their family in 1948, with a daughter, Ingrid, and a son, Rudi, in 1950. Dad’s cousins, Fred & Eric Bonas, sponsored them to move to Canada in April 1952. They traveled to France and then by ship to Halifax and then by train to Herbert, with $38.00 in their pocket and a third child on the way. A son, Zeke, arrived in August 1952. Dad worked on the CPR and farmed. By 1963, they moved to their farm. They became members of this church, St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where they faithfully served until it was no longer feasible. Dad loved animals, fishing, auction sales, spending time with friends and of course…going to town for coffee. His favorite times were when family came home and he always had something for you to do. Dad and Mom moved off the farm in 2008, and into Herbert. Their grandson, Ryan, purchased the farm, and is carrying on the legacy of the Pipke-name. Dad’s health landed him in the hospital in 2009, and he became a resident of the Prairie Pioneer Lodge, In January of 2010, he came to Herbert and joined mom in the Herbert Integrated Health Care Facility. Dad was proud to be a Canadian Citizen and be able to provide a good life for his family. He was a content man and loved his family very much. Dad will be remembered by his wife, Adeline, of 64 years; his daughter, Ingrid (Otto) Hafeli - Rod (Donna), Laura (Dean) - Tyler, Gregg (Theresa) - Natalie and Holly; his sons, Rudi (Teri) Pipke - Ryan - Harlee, Kimberley (Curt) - Myla and Bren: Zeke (Val) Pipke - Robert (Colleen) - Hayley, Chelsey (Adrian) - Jory and Nixon. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 4:00 pm from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herbert, SK, with Rev. Greg Kiel officiating. The organist for the service was Marion Solberg. “How Great Thou Art”, “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” and “ When We All Get to Heaven” were sung by the congregation. The ushers in the church were Terrance Solberg and Ken Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers were “All those present”. The Interment was held at the Herbert Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers, Rudi Pipke, Ryan Pipke, Zeke Pipke, Rob Pipke, Curt Dreger and Otto Hafeli. In memory of Willi Pipke, donations made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
