John Bamford Jackson
JACKSON, John Bamford - 84, Stewiacke. It is with deep regret that the family of John Bamford Jackson announces his passing on March 5th, 2012, in the Sutherland Memorial Veterans Home in Pictou, N.S. John was born in Stewiacke, N.S, on August 6th, 1927, son of the late William and Beatrice Jackson. He joined the Armed Forces and served in Korea as a wireless operator with the Royal Canadian Regiment and later with the Black Watch in Soest, Germany. He married Shirley Jean Rose of West St. Andrews and he purchased the neighboring farm where they became Foster Parents to over 60 children. John is survived by his wife Shirley (Rose); sons, Stephen (Debbie), Enfield; Fredrick (Sharon) Stewiacke; daughters Debbie (Harold Nielsen), Shortts Lake; and Kelly (David Eye) of Enfield; sister Clara Wright of Stewiacke; brothers, Billy Jackson, Stewiacke; Gordon Jackson, Barrie, Ontario; Tommy Jackson, Scarborough; Ontario. 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous foster children. He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Mavis Millet, Nellie MacMillan and brothers Raymond and David. Visitation and viewing will be Friday March 9th, 2012 from 2 – 4 with Legion Service at 7 pm both at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Main Street, Exit 10 off 102, Shubenacadie. Reception following in the Royal Canadian Legion, Stewiacke. Spring Burial in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Fort Ellis.
