Joe Walsh

WALSH, JOE - Truro - It is with great love and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph V. Walsh (Joe) on March 16, 2012 at 61 years of age, while completing missionary work in Guatemala with the Immaculate Conception Church. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Joe was predeceased by his father, Joe Walsh Sr. and his mother-in-law, Patricia Kiervin of Saint John. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Helen Marie Walsh (Kiervin) of Truro, and four children: Shelly Roberts (Marc), Truro; Scott (Holly), Canmore, Alberta; Jay (Angela), Truro; and Lindsay “Lou” (Melissa), Markham, Ontario. Joe was the proud grandfather of Hannah and Emma Roberts. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Walsh, father-in-law, Raymond Kiervin of Saint John, and his six siblings: Nelson (Theresa), Ricky (Carol), Danny (Kerry), Donna Rose (George), Cathy Lifford (late Dave) and Lisa Trim (Robin). With his family, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and coworkers celebrate his life. For 43 years, Joe was a dedicated financial advisor with the TD Bank; his retirement was recently announced. Joe was a kind, joyful, fun-loving, charismatic, musician (he loved to sing!), sports fanatic, who was very proud of his family’s accomplishments. His personal relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of his volunteer work with the youth of Steubenville Atlantic and serving the poor through missionary work. Joe had plans to continue God’s work and was fundraising with the youth of Immaculate Conception to attend World Youth Day in Rio De Janeiro in 2013. God has gained a special angel, and the heaven’s choir is joined by Joe’s spirit.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, from where family will receive friends on Saturday evening, March 24, between the hours of 6 to 8pm, and again on Sunday, March 25, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. Funeral service will be held 2pm Monday, March 26, from the Immaculate Conception Church, Prince Street Truro, with Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. A reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Interment will be held at a later date in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Immaculate Conception World Youth Day, Brazil (envelopes will be available at either Immaculate Conception Church or Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home), or a foundation of your choice.
