HAY - On Thursday, March 15, 2012, Marion Enid Joyce Hay (nee Johnston), age 92, died peacefully at the Gull Lake Special Care Center, with her beloved daughter, Lynn and Don Thompson at her side. Enid was born at Beverly, SK, the youngest of 5 children, to George Johnston and Olive Steer. At age 3, she became a step-daughter of Caroline Johnston (nee Green) and over the years, an older sister to 7 half brothers and sisters. Her childhood was spent on the family farm. Enid married Clyde Hay on January 2, 1938 in Swift Current, SK, where they resided and raised their family. An employee of Saskatchewan Co-operative Creamery for 47 years, Enid was a mainstay of the office staff. She was a Sunday School teacher and an active member of the Full Gospel Church for many years. She was an avid golfer and it was her favourite activity until 2009. Enid and Clyde were members of the Waldeck Square Dance Club and the Rock Hounds. They loved to go camping and travelling to find rocks, golf and visit family and friends, often with some of their grandchildren. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren formed many of Enid’s fondest memories. As a long term resident of Swift Current, Enid will be remembered by many. Enid is survived by her son, Jim (Peggy) Hay; her daughters, Bea Greenizan and Ellen Lynn Wiens (Don Thomson); son-in-law, Phil Murray; grandchildren, Lavonne Hay (Colin Grant), Brent (Michelle) Hay, Mike (Diane) Greenizan, Jacqueline Greenizan (Fareed Ansari), Bill Greenizan, Nanci (Brian) Murray-Hasselfelt, Keri (Gary) Hatfield, Tim (Jennifer) Murray, Janice (Dave) Wiens-McKenna, Steven (Shami) Wiens; 22 much loved great-grandchildren, who filled her later years with joy and was honored by the love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Viola Weston; her brother, Vernon (Bev) Johnston; sisters-in-law, Gladys, Dot and Hattie Hay, Lorraine Retzer, Hedy and Grace Johnston; brother-in-law, Jim Busse, former son-in-law, Abe L. Wiens and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde (1991); her daughter, Rene (2009); her son-in-law, Owen Greenizan; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Hay; her parents, George and Olive Johnston; her stepmother, Caroline Johnston; her parents-in-law, Morvin and Rose Hay; 6 brothers; 3 sisters; 9 brothers-in-law and 7 sisters-in-law. Enid did not want a funeral. She preferred that her family and friends remember her in their own way. Her family honours her request and will hold a Celebration of Enid’s life at a later date. Donations in memory of Enid Hay, made to the Gull Lake Special Care Centre Auxillary would be appreciated by the family.
