Black, Eileen E. 95 years of age, formally of Linden, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in Linden she was a daughter of the late Walter & Mary (Mitchell) Greeno.
Eileen attended Teachers College in Truro and taught school eleven years in rural schools before joining the Amherst Elementary School system, retiring in 1972. She was a life member of the Linden United Church, a member of the U.C.W. and Sunrise Senior Citizen Club. She loved to travel, especially bus tours to the Unites States and across Canada. Eileen enjoyed gardening, card parties and knitting.
Eileen is survived by her sisters, Elma Greeno of Tidnish, Doreen Oulton
(Hibbert) of Northport also several nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Melda Mitchell.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Laura & Beryl; brothers Norman & Kenneth.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St. Amherst, NS (667-8777) . Visitation will take place at the Renwick United Church on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 2- 3 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Renwick United Church on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 3 p.m.
Burial to take place in the Northport Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Renwick United Church, Alzheimer's Society or the charity of the choice.
