BROWNE, Margaret Helena - Sadly we announce the passing of our dear Mum and Nana on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2012 with her family by her side in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on August 23, 1917 she was a daughter of the late John and Maude (Boyd) Akin. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Falmouth and spent the last four years at the Windsor Elms Village. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas, (formerly of Isle Magee, North Ireland) in whose arms may she be dancing once again. She was also predeceased by sisters, Mary, Kathryn, Elizabeth and Sadie; brothers, Albert, Godfrey, Charles and William "Bill"; daughter-in-law, Gloria (Miner) Browne; sister-in-law, Bessie Akin. Margaret is survived by daughter, Maureen (Carl) Salter, Hantsport; son, T. Wayne Browne, Halifax; grandchildren; Darren Bishop, Scott (Angie) Bishop, all of Amherst; Phillip (Elizabeth) Bishop, Alberta; Krista (Wayne) Myles, Lockhartville; Vicki (Chris) Morton, Hackett's Lake and Tracey Browne (George Phillips), Halifax; nine great-grandchildren; brother, John "Bun" (Jean) Akin, Kentville; sister-in-law, Nellie, Nictaux; numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor (902-798-8317), where visitation was held Thursday, March 22 from 6-8 p.m. Memorial service was held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m., Friday, March 23, with Rev. Debra Mosher and Rev. Gail Whalen-Dunn officiating. A reception followed in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. A private family committal service was held in Centre Falmouth Cemetery. Family flowers only, were by request. Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Windsor Elms Chaplaincy Fund or the Windsor Elms Music Therapy Program, 174 Dyke Rd., Falmouth, NS B0P 1L0; Juniper Grove United Church or a charity of one's choice.
