Aubrey Greeno

The death of Aubrey Greeno, age 89, of Truemanville, occurred suddenly as the result of an accident at his home on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
Born in Lower Shinimicas, he was a son of the late Austin and Maude (Gilroy) Greeno
Joining the Royal Canadian Army in 1939, he served with the Winnipeg Rifles until 1945. Soon after returning to Canada, he married his childhood sweetheart Jean Smith. Aubrey was a 24 year veteran of the RCMP serving in Halifax and St. John's N.L.. He was a Mason and a Shriner and member of the Sunrise Trinity United Church, Amherst Head. A keen curler, he played as long as he could and then watched with great interest. He was as well an avid card player. Always busy, he loved his gardening, producing many fruits and vegetables which he shared with family, neighbours and friends.
Aubrey will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Jean Smith; daughters, Sharon Pye (Terry) of Halifax, NS, Sandra Doney (Robert) of Lower Sackville, NS, Angela MacLean (Chris) of Dartmouth, NS; sons, Gordon (Eleanor) of Middle Sackville, NS, Earl of Truemanville, Brian (Della) of Halifax, NS, and Kevin of Halifax, NS; a sister, Shirley Libonati (Vince) of Oshawa, ON; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and his much loved uncle, Bill Gilroy.
He was predeceased by a brother, Harold.
Aubrey's remains have been cremated under the direction of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (902-667-8777) from where a time of visitation will be held on Friday, March 30 from 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Sunrise Trinity United Church, Amherst Head on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:30 am, Ruth K. Gamble-DLM officiating. Burial in the Northport Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of the donor's choice gratefully accepted. www.furlongjones.ca
