Elsie J. Stanley, age 90, of Amherst, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Monday, April 2, 2012. Born in Chignecto, NS, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Vance) Delahunt.
Elsie was a lifetime member of the Immanuel United Church, and a lifetime member of the Pythian Sisters of Amherst. In earlier years she was an active member of the Sunrise Campers. Elsie enjoyed spending summers at Heather Beach with friends and family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elise will be sadly missed by her sons, James of Amherst, and Troy (Shirley) of Salem; three sisters, Erma Estabrooks of Amherst, Sue (Gerry) MacDonald of New Lowell, ON, and Joan Morrison of Amherst; two grandchildren, Angela
(Nathanael) Sangster, and Kevin Stanley; three great grandchildren, Cassidy, Mataya and Max, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Lorne Stanley; two brothers, Vance and James Delahunt.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777) from where visitation will take place on Wednesday from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 2 pm, Ruth Gamble officiating. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Elsie may do so to the Immanuel United Church or a charity of your choice.
