1930-2012
The death of Betty Jean (nee Beers) Goodwin of Baie Verte occurred at home on Thursday, March 29, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers.
Born in Charlottetown, Betty was a daughter of the late George and Azza (Parkman) Beers.
A warm and outgoing person, Betty had been an area director of New Brunswick for Welcome Wagon. Friends will remember her for her beautiful singing voice as music was a large part of her life. She had been an active member of the Mount Royal United Church Choir in Moncton for twenty-five years.
Betty will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband, Allison Goodwin, of Baie Verte. During her illness, Allison never left Betty's side and ensured she was always comfortable in her home. Her family was her life, she was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She will also be missed by her daughter, Nancy (David) Trueman, and two sons, Peter and Jeff Crawford, all of Moncton; stepson, Brent (Diana) Goodwin, Halifax; stepdaughter, Carolyn (Al) Gibson, Halifax; granddaughters, Francesca (Joel) Phillips, Moncton, Tara Gibson, Halifax; four grandsons, Peter and David Crawfod, Moncton and Colin and Jasper Goodwin, Halifax and her brother, Barry (Connie) Beers of Sherwood, PE.
Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by a granddaughter, Samantha Trueman.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who helped care for Betty throughout her long illness. A special thank you to Tantramar Extra-Mural, Dr. G. Stewart, Barb Barrow, Debbie Mitchell and especially Gail Roach for their wonderful care and compassion for mom.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, Sackville (364-1300). Honoring Betty's wishes there is to be no visitation or funeral services.
