It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Matthew Richards on Sunday, April 1, 2012.
Loving husband to Marylee. Loving father to Wayne (Monica), Larry (Jackie), Tammy (Tarik); stepfather to Glenn, Brad (Christine) and Craig (Peiqin). Loving grandfather to Kaitlin, Megan, Christian, Luke, Alexandra, Isabell and predeceased by two angels, Matthew and Adam. Beloved brother to Frank, Louis, Wilson, Doreen, Lois and Louise. Henry will be missed by his extended family, friends, colleagues and neighbours.
Our father, brother, husband is in heaven with friends and family. God allowed him to work till his final night, never spending an entire day in a hospital. Mercifully he came to rest in his bed. Blessed thankfully by Father Edwin. He was a man of unyielding principles, His work ethic was handed down from life as a coal miner's son. He came to Toronto at 17 with nickels, dimes and a dream. Two years later in 58' he would start his business. With an ol' truck and fearless determination he would amass his first fortune by the age of 27 and establish himself as a pioneer in the waste and snow industry. Never one to sit still, these early years would see him garner his pilot and mechanics licence; all the while holding down a full time job as a Toronto Firefighter. Anything our father did he could put his name on it. His "never say never" approach was a throw back to another time. His energy was boundless. He was singular in nature and marched to his own drum. He was a real man in every sense of the word. He was loyal, hard working, responsible and protective of his family. He had a soft side. He knew he was blessed and he really cared about the underdog. People often came to seek council and if you were in trouble he was always there. He used a lot of words, but never the word hate. He had an incredibly forgiving soul and if he loved you he never stopped loving you. He set a standard we can only dream to reach. He taught through example. It will never be the same without him, yet because he was larger than life we understand that he will always be there to guide us with his principle. We love you.
