LAKE, Jean Buchanan — 87, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, with her family by her side. Born on August 22, 1924, in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Jean (MacBride) Struthers. Jean was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Air Force, and also a Canadian war bride. She was a life member of Hants County Branch #009, Royal Canadian Legion, the Catholic Womens League, a long time supporter and ticket seller of the Windsor Royals Junior “B” Hockey Team and a devoted volunteer of the Windsor Legion. Jean enjoyed playing bingo and knitting. Her passion was with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean is survived by her son, Graham (Mary Lou) Lake, Newport Station; daughters, Kathy (Rick) MacLeod, Falmouth; Kelly, Bracebridge, Ontario; grandchildren, Andrew (Pam) Salter; Jennifer Lake; Nicole (John) Myles; Kristy (Peter) Welton; Michelle MacLeod; Deanna MacLeod; Chelsey Lake; Megan Lake; MacKenzie Lake; Keegan Renaud; great grandchildren, Anika Myles; Ben, Mya and Eli Welton; and Allie MacLeod. Besides her parents, Samuel and Jean (MacBride) Struthers; she was predeceased by her husband, Walter Arthur Lake (1971); son, Robert “Bobby” Lake (1973); daughter, Patricia “Pat” Salter (2011); son-in-law, Vincent Salter (1997). Hants County Branch No. 009 held a Legion tribute in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by visitations until 9 p.m. Funeral Mass was 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 339 King Street, Windsor. The Rev’d Father Michael J. Walsh officiated. Interment was in St. John’s Parish Cemetery, Wiley Avenue.
