Bob passed away peacefully after a short stay in hospital just shy of his 90th birthday.
He is survived by his beloved Ines of 61 years; son Donald; daughter Shelley (Chris) Roerslev: grandchildren, Codie and Colter McQuay; Alysha, Liam and Joshua Roerslev; close family Iris Rich and Jesse Philips.
Bob is the last of his family, predeceased by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and his grandson Chanse McQuay.
Bob was born in Dauphin, Manitoba spending his early life in Winnipeg prior to joining the Merchant Marine Navy in which he served 3 years during the 2nd World War. This brought him to Vancouver where he began his 37 year career with the CP Railway, signing out in Kamloops in 1982. Bob enjoyed a full life; hunting, fishing, reading, playing bridge, golfing, enjoying his family, especially his grandchildren.
The family expresses a thank you to the excellent staff on 5 North, with a special thank you to Dr. Chip Bantock who has cared for Bob for many years.
A Memorial Prayer Service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 635 Tranquille Road, Friday April 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., with Father Peter Hoan Nguyen officiating.
In lieu of flowers and if friends desire, donations to TRU-A-Mother's Chanse Bursary or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Bob's memory would be appreciated.
