It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joan Sheppard announces her passing on Monday, December 14th, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, at the age of 83 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are: husband of 64 years, Bert; five children: Robert (Harriet), Eskasoni, NS, Rosalind (Melvin) Mercer, Bonne Bay Big Pond, Carl (Linda), Sylvia (Harvey) Hawkins and Lillian (Monty), Curling; 16 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia Butler, Corner Brook; her best friend, Mary Ann Graham, Curling, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Ethel Butler; sister, Olive Pieroway and brother, Bert Butler. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street, on Tuesday evening, 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 17th at 2:00 p.m. from St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Curling. Reverend Karen Laldin officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
