Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren, on April 8, 2012, Joan Francis Stokes (Lewis), aged 72 years. Predeceased by her husband Eli Whitefield Stokes (Whitey). Leaving to mourn with precious memories her children: Janet Head (Bob), Robert (Corina), Wanda Brown (Karl), Connie Dunnett (Hubert), nine grandchildren: Robyn, Heidi, Ashley, Amanda, Lesleigh, Nicole, Steven, Bradley and Alekzandria, along with six great-grandchildren, all whom she adored. Also leaving to mourn one brother Robert Lewis (Theresa), niece Bonnie, nephew Bobby sisters-in-law Pearl Stagg, Lillian Clarke, Effie Burry along with a circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
