ARMSWORTHY, Kathleen (Kay) Jean

ARMSWORTHY, Kathleen (Kay) Jean was born July 21, 1929 in Natick, Massachusetts. She passed away peacefully at Shepherd’s Care Nursing Home, Edmonton, Alberta on April 7, 2012.

Kay will be sadly missed by her children: Sharen (Pat) Lipton, Paulette (Grant) McKinnon, Dave (Jane) Armsworthy, and Tim Armsworthy; her sister Hazel Herrick of Stoneham, Massachusetts; grandchildren: Nicki (Aaron) Dublenko, Becky (David) Fournier, Richie (Ashleigh) Lipton, Lindsay (Mark Gibbons) Villetard, Karmen (Scott) Kadatz, Karla Armsworthy, Chris Armsworthy, Doug Armsworthy and Nicholas (fiancée Sarena) Armsworthy; great grandchildren: Max, Maddy, Elle, Deegan, Skylar, Braydon & Sarah Gibbons, Parker, Mason, Shelby and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

Kay was predeceased by parents Fred and Elizabeth (Lindsay) Wallace, brothers Bill, Buzz, Reg and Robert, sisters-in-law Dot and Alice and brother-in-law Ken.

Born in the States, Kay moved to Belmont, Nova Scotia as a young girl, and then later to Truro, Nova Scotia where her children were born and raised. Kay worked for Stanfield’s Underwear Factory, owned her own “Baby and Me” clothing store and was very involved in First Baptist Church, Truro and McLaurin Baptist, Edmonton, and was a realtor for many years. She moved to Edmonton, Alberta in the summer of 1992 where she continued as a realtor until 2006. She was a crafty lady, sewed many wedding dresses, made many beautiful wedding cakes and hummed a tune wherever she went. She had a great sense of humor, loved children, music and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She will always be remembered for her award winning smile and kind heart. Kay will be truly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday April 11, 2012 at McLaurin Baptist Church, 11107-51 Avenue, Edmonton, AB at 2:00 pm. There will also be a Memorial service later in Truro, Nova Scotia with interment to take place at that time.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
