Fenton Harvey
HARVEY, REV. FENTON LYLE - Rev. F. Lyle Harvey of Browns Flat passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday April 8, 2012. He was born in 1923 at Seal Cove Grand Manan Island the son of the late John and Pearl (Wilcox) Harvey. As a young man he served overseas during the Second World War in the 1st Canadian Armoured Brigade from 1942 – 1946. As a faithful Christian he preached the Gospel in six Wesleyan churches, two in Canada and four in the United States. He founded the Wesleyan church in Catskill, New York which he pastored for ten years. Although his Ministry took him to various locations he never lost touch with his Seal Cove and Wood Island roots always remaining true to where he came from. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Gwenda G. Harvey of Browns Flat, one daughter Marilyn McCarthy (Timothy) of Catskill New York. Three sons; Gary (Pat) of Palenville New York, Robert (Sarah) of Gold Hill North Carolina, and Ronald (Julie) of Palm Harbour Florida. One sister Bertie Day of Truro, NS, one sister-in-law Marjorie Harvey of Seal Cove, twelve grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Many nieces, nephews and friends he made along life’s journey. He was predeceased by Lois Jean Harvey, his wife of 35 years and mother of his children, and by his second wife Barbara P. Harvey. He was also predeceased by his brother, Donald Beverly Harvey.
There will be a memorial service to honor the life of Rev. Harvey at the Browns Flat Wesleyan Fellowship in Browns Flat on Friday April 13, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Wayne Briggs and Rev. Stuart Steves officiating. For his family and friends in the United States there will be a memorial service to honor his life in Catskill New York on Monday evening April 16th.
