MacKENZIE, Floyd Mervyn – 74, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday morning, April 12, 2012, at home. Born December 3, 1937, in Harmony, Colchester County, he was a son of the late Ira and Ethel (Smith) MacKenzie. Floyd was a member of McCulloch United Church in Harmony where he served as an Elder for many years, sang in the church choir and was the custodian. Floyd loved to sing and was a member of St. James Male Chorus and enjoyed traveling to various nursing homes with his dear friends, Ron and Susan Richard, to provide musical entertainment with their group, “Floyd & Friends”. He was a member of Truro Antique Car Club, owned many antique cars over the years and had a huge collection of antique car models. He worked at CNR, Domtar and Brookfield Creamery (Now Scotsburn) from where he retired in 1996. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen (Stiles); children, Charlene (Wayne) Weatherbee, Truro Heights; Darlene (Norman) Muise, Bible Hill; Duane (Jolayne) MacKenzie, Valley; Mike (Lori) MacKenzie, Truro; daughter-in-law, Marina MacKenzie, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Ryan (Lindsay), Steven (Autumn), Nicole (Jamie), David, Jay, Tamara, Cameron, Courtney, Mariah; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brianna, Ashtyn, Georgia; brothers, Harold (Blanche), Harmony; Arthur, Ontario; Hazen, Lower Harmony; sisters-in-law, Doris MacKenzie, Truro; Peg Lynds, Truro; Barb MacKenzie, Waverley; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Grant; sister, Helen (Don) Grant; brothers, Roy, Russell, Ernest; sister-in-law, Irene MacKenzie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Floyd’s family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2012, Reverend Sue King-Darby officiating. Interment in Harmony Cemetery. Reception will follow in McCulloch United Church, corner of Harmony and Camden Roads, Harmony. Family flowers only.
