It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Brewer, age 83, formerly of Gardiner Mines. Betty passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay, with her son, Sheldon and son-in-law, Gordie, at her side.
Born in Dominion, Betty was the daughter of the late Joe and Flora ‘Babe’ (MacMullin) Timmons.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport.
She enjoyed playing cards and darts.
Betty will be sadly missed by her loving children, daughters, Rosalie (Gordie) Gouthro, Betty Lou Reid, Brenda (Cliff) Burton, Debbie (Gil) Mallet, Geraldine Begin, Margie Lynn Xerri; sons, Reggie, Sheldon (Carol), Joe (Lucille), Carl (Debbie), Gerard; daughter-in-law, Yvonne; 31 cherished grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Theresa McNeil, Rosalie MacDonald (Bobby), Ethel MacMillan, Margaret McNeil, Francis Melanson (John), Mary Hannah (Garry), brothers, Jackie, Harvey (Donna), Jude (Karen), Timmy (Pat), J.B.
Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, George ‘Tud,’ son, Paul and son-in-laws, Junior and Richard, brothers, Reggie, Malcie and Gregory Gerard and Myles Gregory, in infancy.
Visitation for Betty Brewer will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2012, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
